Mr. Herman “Pete” Barnes, age 93, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born on August 21, 1925, in Robeson County to the late Frank Barnes and the late Emma Barnes.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Barnes; two sons, Rickie Barnes and Karey Barnes; three brothers: Roman Barnes, Richard Barnes, and Bobby Barnes; and one sister, Basha Hope.
He is survived by his children: Patrick Barnes (Faye) of Barnesville, Michael Barnes of Fairmont, and Alaine Deal of Virginia; his stepchildren: Jerry Stubbs (Jennifer) of Lumberton, Sheila Lee (Gerald) of Lumberton, and Vickie Stubbs of Lumberton; a special daughter-in-law, Joyce Barnes of Lumberton; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Nettie Rae Moore of Lumberton, Jean Evans of Bladenboro, and Emma Clemmons of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. George Harrison officiating.
