LAKE CHEROKEE — Funeral services for Mr. Don Davis, 68, of Lake Cherokee will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Brother Ted White officiating. Burial will follow at the Elderville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Don passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Quitman.
Mr. Davis was born on March 15, 1951. He received his Engineering degree from Oklahoma State University in 1972. Don worked for Vertex Communication in Kilgore (now General Dynamics) for 38 years before his retirement. He was an active member and servant at Lakeview Baptist Church. Don loved to fish, travel and was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Davis of Lake Cherokee; mother, Ilamae Hendrix of Longview; sons, Shane Hooten and wife Patricia of Kilgore and Dustin Davis of Kilgore; sister, Sheila Harp of Perkins, OK; brother, Lavoyd Davis and wife Linnie of Cyril, OK; two grandchildren, Blake and Sarah Hooten both of Kilgore; one niece and two great nephews; along with many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwain Davis.
