Michael David Petty, 31, of Gilbert, AZ passed away Thursday, April 16, 2019 near Superior, AZ.
He was born on December 5, 1987 to Ellie Webster and David Petty.
Michael had two loves in his life: sports and family. There was nothing better to him than Sunday watching the NFL and a big dinner with as much family as he could gather. He played soccer, basketball and football. He started golfing as soon as he could walk, but his passion was for baseball and he was very good at it. He pitched a no hitter in high school and took his team with Blue Ridge to state that year. He played on many award-winning teams from Little League thru high school and received a baseball scholarship to EAC.
While baseball was not to be his calling, he graduated Pima Medical Institute as a Respiratory Therapist. He worked for Banner Desert, Banner Baywood and was employed by St. Joseph's in Phoenix preceding his death. Michael loved his job and his patients and coworkers loved him. He was fun and funny and so full of life. He had an electric personality that could make even the sickest of his patients smile.
Michael put his family before all else. He rarely missed a holiday or family event and returned to Globe often to spend time at the family home in Wheatfields.
Michael leaves behind 3 children. He met Codi Ramirez Sanchez in high school and had Gage who is now 8 years old. He later married Sinead Tyson and had Makenzie Fay, 6 and Michael Ian (M.J.), 4.
At the time of his death he was living with his girlfriend Jenna DiGuiseppe and her daughter Aaliyah, 9 also of Gilbert. Michael is also survived by his little brother William Russell Petty. They were not only brothers but very best friends. Michael was always the father figure in Will's life. Will spent school breaks and holidays and any time that he could with Michael and Michael loved having him.
His grandparents Jane and Tom Hale also played a large role in his life. Such doting grandparents even bought a second home in Lakeside so they could watch Michael play football for the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets. He adored his "Gram and Pop."
Michael was loved and will be missed by so many. Along with the aforementioned, he is also survived by his grandfather Chuck Webster and his grandparents CM and Rose Petty and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
