His military career was 1862-1865, he enrolled in Newark, MO and was discharged in Chattanooga, TN. He was treated at the Veterans hospital in Leavenworth shortly before he died. She had three children with Samuel E. Belt according to census data :William, Dora, and Mattie.
2) Thomas Benjamin Carter (1842-1919) - also a Civil War Veteran and a patient -on and off - at the Veterans Hospital from 1889 until 1919 when he died. They are found on the census and in the veterans home records.
