Fred E. Phillips, 84, Martinsburg, died Friday.
He was born rural Martinsburg, son of James H. and Shirley (Burket) Phillips.
Surviving are his wife, Grace E.; a son, Larry W.; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John G.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allen E.; a grandson, Christopher C.; and four brothers: Joandy, James, Marl Goodling and S. Bill.
He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Fred E. Phillips, 84, of Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, Friday evening, April 19, 2019 at Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was born along Clover Creek in rural Martinsburg, son of the late James H. and Shirley (Burket) Phillips.
On July 20, 1956 he married Grace E. Metzker in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years; a son, Larry W. Phillips of Juniata; a daughter-in-law, Gabi M. Williams of Newburg; four granddaughters: Holly J. Bem of Ebensburg, Mindy Ochoa (Neil) of Maiden, NC, Adrienne E. Williams of Newburg and Amber E. Phillips of Juniata; a grandson, Dustin F. Phillips of Williamsburg; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John G. Phillips of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allen E. Phillips who passed away on February 27, 2018; a grandson, Christopher C. Phillips who passed away on August 19, 2002; twin infant sisters; and four brothers: JoAndy, James, Marl Goodling and S. Bill Phillips.
Fred was a 1952 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. Following high school, he served one year in the United States Naval Reserves, Fred then joined the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean War, from 1954 until 1956, attaining the rank of PFC.
He was a member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and a former member of the Berachah Sunday School Class. Fred worked as a welder for Conrail at the Sam Rae Car Shop, Hollidaysburg with 19 years of service.
Fred loved spending time with his family, reading Louis L’Amour books and also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions football.
Friends will be received from 1- 3pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.
A funeral service with military honors will follow at 3pm at the church, Pastor Brian McCall, Pastor J. Brant Leidy and Mr. Daniel Horton officiating.
Private interment will be Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Memorial contributions in memory of Fred can be given to Gideon’s International Bible Ministry or Martinsburg Community Library.
