Veteran Officier, Who Was Serving Third Term As Marshal, Succumbs Unexpectedly.
Webb City, Mo., March 21,-Andrew J. Bishir, 74 years old, chief of Webb City police for many years, died at 11:30 o'clock last night at his home, 207 South Pennsylvania Avenue.
He was serving his third consecutive term as police chief and had been nominated last week by the republicans to run again for the office. His present term expires in April. In 1900 he also served one term as chief of police.
For many years he was associated with George Moore as an ore buyer, operating in the Webb City mining area. He had resided in Webb City about 50 years, coming here from northern Missouri.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John R. Nicholson of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. George P. Roberts of Garden City, Kan.; five sisters, Mrs. Carl Sechler of Lees Summit, Mo., Mrs. Preston Marion of Girard, Kan., Mrs. Lofton Kersey of Independence, Mo., Mrs. Nannie Hightower, of Toledo, O., and Mrs. Etta Davis of Kansas City, Mo., three sons, E. W. Bishir of Webb City, Robert A. Bishir of Cotton Valley, La., and Marion S. Bishir of Pampa, Tex.; a brother, C. P. Bishir of Edna, Kan., and seven grandchildren.
The Webb City Undertaking Company is in charge of funeral plans.
