Mr. Bobby Eugene Holmes, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12:30 pm, May 1, 2019 at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Scott officiating. Burial will follow at 2 pm Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Georgia National Cemetery with Poole Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 11 am until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday before the service. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mr. Holmes was born in Thomaston, GA to the late Lonnie and Lona Guilder Holmes. Mr. Holmes served his country in the United States Air Force. After the Air Force Mr. Holmes worked with Jimmy Brock as a mobile caterer for over 25 years. Mr. Holmes enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, country music, and most of all he loved telling jokes.
Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents and a son in 2001, Jeffrey Wayne Holmes.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Shirley Holmes, Woodstock, GA; one daughter, Tracy Creighton (Richard); two sons, Jerry Holmes (Liz), and Bobby Holmes; one sister, Lola Brannon (Ted); one brother, Lonnie Holmes (Sally Faye); one grandchild, Casey Creighton (Allison); nieces, Belinda Bryan, Johnna Daniels, and Sherry Compton; nephews, Al Holmes, Greg Holmes, and Larry Pfannkuche;
