William was the grandson of William and Jean Purves Black, early settlers in the Huntingdon area.
From "The Gleaner": Gleaner Extracts 1937...(Not dated) William Black, died at his home on Wellington Street. Age 75 years. He is survived by his widow, Isabella Middlemiss, and three daughters, Mrs. J. R. McLeod of Québec, Mrs. Raymond Rowat, and Mrs. J. Clarence Cluff of Montreal. The funeral service held from St. Andrew's Church, conducted by the Rev. J. B. MacLean.
