Melvin Leon Douglass, 60, of Webb Street, transitioned Monday, February 11, 2019 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of Delois Freeman and the late Earnest Stephen.
He attended Southwestern High School and Hayden High School. He was employed with the City of Alexandria for 24 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Delois Freeman(Walter Freeman); son, Justin Bates; special friend, Brenda Garner; life long friend, Grilette Bates; three aunts, Ivery Goodman, Gladys Walton, Pattie Silver; and a host of cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at New First Baptist Hosier Road. He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
