According to Hardin's (Harry) WWI draft card dated 11 Sep 1918, Harry Leroy Allred, b. 07 Jun 1882 (sic) was the Superintendent of the Walker Bros Consolidated Copper Mining Co. in Portola, Plumas, CA where he lived at the time. His NOK was his mother, Mrs. D.H. Allred. In the California 1905-1939 Death Index on Ancestry, Harry L. Allred died on 2 Jan 1919 in San Francisco county, CA. Age: 37 which is consistent with his stated birthdate of 07 Jun but the year and his age were incorrect. Also, in the CA death index was Hilda E. Allred who died on 14 Aug 1917 in Butte County, CA age 38. They must have been together or close by to his mining job when she died in 1917.
------------------------------------
This is the edited version of Harry L. Allred's obituary. It leaves little doubt based upon the names of his children and sister (Sarah Ann Allred Bemis) that this is the Harden "Harry" who had been married to Hilda Emma Mynott and was, at the time of his death, married to Eileen J. O'Neill Allred.
San Francisco Examiner (San Francisco, CA) - 04 Jan 1919, Sat - p. 4, Deaths in San Francisco, CA - Allred - In this city, 2 Jan 1919, Harry Leroy Allred, husband of Eileen (sic) Allred, father of George Leroy, Kenneth, Opal and Frederick T. Allred, brother of Mrs G.L. Bemis, brother-in-law of Fred N. O'Neil. A native of Utah aged 37 years. Funeral today. Interment in Cypress Lawn Cemetery.
----------------------------------------
G.L. Bemis was George Leroy Bemis husband of Harden’s sister Sarah Ann Allred. Fred N. O'Neill was Eileen O'Neill's brother.
After finding this obit today, which was published on 03 and 04 Jan 1919, I found Cypress Lawn Memorial Park's web site. It has an internal search function. The search for all the Allreds in the cemetery turned up just six names. One name was Harry L. Allred. Burial location only was listed. There were no birth or death dates. I called the cemetery and spoke with Olga in the office who researched the information on Harry. She confirmed that it was a burial and not a cremation, and that Harry was buried on 04 Jan 1919. I am quite sure this is Harden Leroy “Harry” Allred. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to locate Hilda’s burial location.
Compiler's note: I submitted this information to the originator of Harry's first memorial page so she could amend death location and his burial location. However, after a month, I haven't seen a change or heard from her so I created this memorial with the correct information added.
