Darlene M. Simmons, age 82, of Boonville, died on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 24, at Howard Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Lorence Otto Vahrenberg and Edna Arnsmeyer.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Richard) Nelson of Boonville, sister Dorothy Dean Bronson of Wichita, Kansas, her grandchildren Jake (Kaitlyn) Nelson, Anna Nelson (Corey Watring), Richie Nelson, Suzzane (Kevin) Adams, great- grandchildren Tenna, R.C., Jon, Wyatt, and Grace.

Darlene M. Simmons, 82, of Boonville passed away at her home surrounded by family on April 20, 2019.

Visitation for Darlene will be Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Howard Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Nelson and Rev. Tim Fairley officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Darlene M. Simmons was born December 22, 1936 in Fayette Missouri, the daughter of Lorence Otto Vahrenberg and Edna Arnsmeyer. She graduated from New Franklin High School. She married Howard Simmons on February 16, 1958 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in New Franklin. She later became a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Boonville. Darlene absolutely loved her grandchildren; they were the best gift she could ever get. She enjoyed spending time with them and attending events, watching them grow up. Anytime spent with family was good. For many years she worked as a bank teller at the Kemper State/ UMB Bank. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching the hummingbirds. And Darlene had the BEST banana bread there was, she was a great cook!

She is survived by her husband, Howard of the home, daughter Teresa (Richard) Nelson of Boonville, sister Dorothy Dean Bronson of Wichita, Kansas, her grandchildren Jake (Kaitlyn) Nelson, Anna Nelson (Corey Watring), Richie Nelson, Suzzane (Kevin) Adams, great- grandchildren Tenna, R.C., Jon, Wyatt, and Grace.
