Son of Helena (Hall) and Alton Coon.
He attended school in Syracuse and met Doris (Gotham), the love of his life, in the 11th grade. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Among his many accomplishments, Dick was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Italy following World War II. He was also an Eagle Scout, Grand Master of the Free Masons and past president of the Hillcrest Village Association in Crystal River.
Dick was in sales for 38 years. He worked for 3M initially and finished his career with Avery Dennison. He and Doris traveled to many places thanks to his success in sales. They lived in Syracuse, NY; Utica, NY; New Hartford, NY; Medfield, MA; Roswell, GA; and Charlotte, NC. They retired to Crystal River in 1992.
Dick and Doris had four children, five grandchildren. They also had four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Dick is survived by a sister, Bev Hennessy and a brother, David Coon.
