Lee Roy McKinney, 83, of Boones Mill, VA, passed away, Saturday, April 20, 2019.

He was born January 30, 1936, the son of the late Nathan Mags McKinney and Blanche Vernon McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lee Turner McKinney.

In 1946 when Lee Roy was 10 years old, he started attending the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. After school at the age of 21, he moved to Roanoke and worked for many years as a Christian Book Salesman.

Surviving is two children: son, Stephen McKinney (Julie), daughter, Rhonda Poff (Danny); two sisters: Claudia McKinney Bryant, Jackie McKinney Haynes.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Smith Mountain Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10802 Moneta Road, Moneta, VA 24121. An Interpreter for the deaf will be provided at the church for the service.

Memorials may be made to Three Angels Deaf Ministries, P.O. Box 1946, Greenbelt, Maryland 20768.
