Born on August 31, 1933 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Myrtle Edge Gindstaff. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Goldman Hughes who passed away in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her sister; Ruth Corn and her brothers; Jack and James Grindstaff.
Ollie was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She loved her family and particularly loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She enjoyed working and checking on cattle. She was a fantastic gardener and loved to make various kinds of pickles and sharing them with everyone.
Left to cherish her memories are her son; Kenny Hughes and wife, Glenna of Green Valley; her daughter; Jewel McPeters and husband, Donald of Marion; her granddaughter; Donna Laws and husband, Nathan; her great grandchildren; Dustin Ayers and wife, Lakin and Danielle Willis; and her great great grandchildren; Halle and Hadi; her brothers; Joe Grindstaff and wife, Donna of Burnsville and Charles Grindstaff of Texas; and her very special friend; Bob Stancil of Newland.

Lonnie McClellan officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on Bent Road in Spruce Pine.
