John E. Hahn, 56, of Downs, passed away at 1:45 AM on Thursday April 18, 2019, at his residence.
There will be a visitation from 3-6 PM on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home. A memorial service for John will follow at 6 PM. Pastor Jim Revelle will officiate. A graveside serivce will be held at 1 PM Wednesday April 24, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Cullom.
John was born October 20, 1962, in Rockford to Donald and Violet “Elaine” Hahn. They preceded him in death as well as one brother Mike Hahn.
John married Julie Boomgarden December 23, 1993, in Downs. She survives. He is also survived by four children Gary Lee Hahn of Fairbury, Amber Hahn of West Palm Beach, FL, Jared Hahn of Downs and Jenna Hahn of Orlando, and three sisters Debbie (Rod) Hollinger of Pontiac, Diane (Matt) White of Pontiac, and Donna (Jeff) Phillips of Florida.
John graduated from Tri-Point High School. In the 1980s he enjoyed racing stock cars and watching all types of racing. He also loved golf and was an all-around sports fan. John had a side hobby of small engine repair in Downs that he called Hahn Grenade. John spent twenty-five years working for Mitsubishi Motors as an engineer in stamping and in March 2017 began working for Rivian on maintenance of large equipment.
John will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
