Daniel David Proffitt, Sr. was born in Dallas, Texas on April 30, 1931 to Benjamin A. and Marguarete Proffitt.

He passed from this life on April 17, 2019 at the age of 87 years old.

Dan served in the Navy during the Korean War.

During his life he worked as a quality control inspector, a minister, and a prison guard.

He loved his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He loved nature, camping and exploring, taking his family on many sight-seeing vacations.

He loved his Lord. He would share his love for Jesus with anyone who would listen and often told those he encountered that they needed to be sure they were right with God. His faith was heard in his prayers for family and friends. His greatest desire was for his family to be faithful to God and obey Him. He was a longtime minister for the churches of Christ around Texas and in Ireland. His example will not be soon forgotten.

Dan is survived by his wife Dora of 66 years of marriage, his son Dan Jr. and wife Janet, his daughter Susan Smith and husband Paul, and his son Andy and wife Cheryl, his sister, Kathryn Farley, and his brother Henry Wade.
