Born in Akeley, MN and raised along with 8 siblings in Nevis, MN. Sig moved to the Twin Cities after graduation and worked at the Golden Rule in St. Paul.
She met and married her husband Roland Peterson in 1946 and they were married on Oct. 10, 1947. Sig and Roland enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing & boating. They lived for over 40 years in White Bear Lake. Sig and Roland owned several power boats which they kept at the St. Croix, & Mississippi Rivers. They were active members in the St. Paul Power Squadron since the early 1960's and its many activities and boating safety courses.
Sig had a career of 27 years with 3M until she was retired in 1989. Sigrid distinguished herself by being active in her interests at 3M organization, as a ski patrol at 3M's Tartan Park and the 3M travel club, she enjoyed traveling and took several trips to Costa del sol, Spain with close friends and coworkers. Sig and her sisters traveled to Trondheim, Norway to visit her Aunts where her parents immigrated from.
Upon retirement, she and her husband started a new chapter in Palmetto, FL where she again became an active and beloved member of Country Lakes HOA and with planning many social activities. Sig was remembered for Saturday morning Coffee and her Ole & Lena jokes.
After the death of her husband in 2013, Sig was diagnosed Alzheimer's. She spent her final years at Ebenzer Care Center in Mpls. We wish to thank many of her care givers and friends for the support and friendship. Her enthusiasm for life will be missed among those who knew her.
Sig was proceeding in death by her husband, Roland Peterson; her parents, Ingrid (Mihle) Reidar Husby; Brothers Rolf, Einar, Norman, Melvin & Harold Husby. She is survived by: Brother Erling (Martha) Husby, Circle Pines, MN; Sisters: Signe Rice, Bella Vista, AR; & Dorothy Strand (St. Paul, MN) Daughter Kristine (Robert) Tompkins of Lawrenceville, GA, Grandson, Tim Peterson, Mpls., MN; Granddaughter Jamie (Scott) Knight Pinellas Park, FL as well as many nieces & nephews.
Private Cremation and Burial will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery. Family wishes any donations to be made to the Ebenzer Care Center, 2545 Portland Ave S, Mpls., MN 55404.
