On Aug. 6, 2017, we lost a beautiful wife, daughter, sister and friend to cancer. Patty Lee (Hilsabeck) Sawyer, 58, passed away at Kindred Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 3, 1959, to the parentage of Leslie Hilsabeck and Fannie Hemmen Hilsabeck.
Patty grew up in Iowa and attended Springville schools in Springville, Iowa. After graduation, she worked at Rockwell Collins and Peoples Bank in Cedar Rapids before moving to Texas, where she met the love of her life, Kenny. They were happily married for over 20 years and, from the first day they met, each day was filled with love and commitment to one another.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie V. Hilsabeck; and father-in-law, Seldon Ferris.
Patty's memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Kenneth "Kenny" Sawyer; her mother, Fannie Hilsabeck; mother-in-law, Madeline Ferris; and siblings, Rod Hilsabeck, Liz (Tony) Tosh, Linda (Bill) Nelson and Deb (Dan) Berning.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Springville Memorial Library in Springville, Iowa, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017. The family also will have a private burial at the Springville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Patricia Lee Sawyer Memorial, The Exchange State Bank, P.O. Box 39, Springville, IA 52336.
