Paul Mathis, 66, of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 at Middle TN Medical Center. He was born in Hamilton County to the late Lee and Estella Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a past Mason, past member of Fayetteville Police Auxiliary and a member of Third Baptist Church.

Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Shelia Mathis; sons, Marcus (Shelly) Mathis, Jason (Cindy) Mathis, all of Murfreesboro and Toby (Renee) Mathis of Kansas City, KS; daughters, Melissa (Jeremy) Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tracey (Frank) Scussell of Hilliard, FL and Paula (Roy) Deason of Murfreesboro; 13 grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; brother, Murray (Loretta) Mathis of Murfreesboro; and sister, Lila (Ray) Arp of Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home with the Rev. W. D. Thomason and Brother Barney Rickman officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
