Clinton Eugene Barnhart, 95, Deepwater, Missouri passed away, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home in Deepwater.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11am with visitation one hour prior at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Brownington, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Missouri Trap Shooter's Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.
C.E. (Gene) was born September 23, 1923 in Blairstown, Missouri. The oldest son of Jesse and Charity (Drummond) Barnhart. Barnhart was owner and operator of a painting and decorating business for 40+ years. He became an avid hunter and fisherman at a young age which followed him his entire life. Clinton was a medic and half track-driver for 8th Armored Division, 7th Infantry Battalion in WWII part of the "Greatest Generation" where he also fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
C.E. was married to Doris (Wilson) Barnhart for 65 wonderful years before her death in 2018. Barnhart is know as "The Living Legend" in the trap shooting world. He was inducted to the National Trap Shooting Hall of Fame in 1980, Missouri Trap Shooter's Hall of Fame in 1981, Greater KC Amateur Sports Hall of Champions in 1987, Kansas Trap Shooter's Hall of Fame in 1988, Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 and Wichita Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
C.E. was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Charity (Drummond) Barnhart, wife, Doris (Wilson) Barnhart, sons, Jesse and Thomas Eugene, sisters, Maxine Murray, Etta Myrle Ingram, brothers, Earnie Lee, Denver Oral and Ira Vestal (Bud).
C.E. is survived by one sister, Darlene Miller, Vista, California, two daughters, Eugenia Powell (Don), Clinton, Missouri, Gina Theiss (Jerry), Lone Jack, Missouri, one son, Thomas Barnhart, Deepwater, Missouri, seven grandchildren, Tanya Claycomb Gentry, Harrisonville, Missouri, Bud Powell, Deepwater, Missouri, Glen Powell, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Trey Theiss, Lone Jack, Missouri, Tori Theiss, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Ashley Barnhart, Overland Park, Kansas, Ryan Barnhart, Denver, Colorado and twelve great grandchildren.
