Lola Alverna Brown Wright, 92, of Roanoke, Virginia made her peaceful transition to eternal rest on Friday, April 12, 2019, in Charlotte, North Carolina, as she entered the gates of heaven. Alverna was born on October 4, 1926, in Vinton, Virginia. She was the youngest of five children born to the late John Lynn Brown and Stella (Ford) Brown.
In addition to her parents, Alverna was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Oscar H. Wright; her daughters, Ellen Elizabeth (Libby) and Beverly Imogene (Jeannie) Wright, and all her siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Oscar L. (Bridgette) Wright, of Roanoke, VA; her devoted granddaughter and granddaughter in love, Magiq L. (Jacqueline) Wright, of Charlotte, NC; her grandson, Paul Eugene Craig III, of Roanoke, VA; her great-grandson, Marquise T. Daye, of Roanoke, VA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dedicated friends. She is especially remembered by her faithful childhood friends Kathleen Saunders, Louise Azilee Styles, and Bernice Stuart.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park.
