Stephen “Steve” Willoughby Porter, 68, of Ft. Thomas, KY, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at his home. Steve was born on December 29, 1950 in Evansville, IN, to the late Corden and Ethel Porter.

He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1968 where he was a three-star athlete in football, basketball and track & field. Steve attended Indiana University on a football scholarship and after college he was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals but his career was shorter than expected due to an unfortunate knee injury. He worked many years as the buyer for Chess King and was blessed to have traveled the world while doing his job. Most recently Steve and his wife Shirley were the owners of Kids Kloset and they worked numerous festivals and fairs across Kentucky and Indiana.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Porter; a brother, Corden Porter; and his biological mother, Grace Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Shirley Porter; two children, Lori Porter; Ben Porter (Abbey); two step-daughters, Kelly Holbrook (Jacob), Monica Arnold (Keith); six siblings, Arthur Willoughby, Jan Jones (Jacob), Cheree Carr, Michael Willoughby, Mary Whitticker, Margaret Rose Porter-Wright; nine grandchildren, Danielle Reese, Michelle Pantiere, Oscar Elliott III, Luke Elliott, Madison Graziani, Brady Arnold, Audrey Arnold, Olivia Holbrook, Grant Holbrook; one great grandson, Gabriel Lindsey; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Stephen “Steve” Willoughby Porter, 68, of Ft. Thomas, KY, will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Hamburg Pike Church of Christ, 3108 Hamburg Pike in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Eastern Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home and after 9 AM on Saturday at the church.
