MARION, Va. Walter B. Fisher, age 80, passed away on Sunday April 14, 2019, at the Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va. Walt was born in Marion, Va., to the late George and Minnie Fisher. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Fisher; and sisters, Dalla, Lucille, Minnie, and Betty. Walt worked over 45 years in home construction working in Smyth County and the surrounding areas. He is survived by his wife, Sue Fisher; five children, Tony Fisher and wife, Sharon, of Bedford, Va., Tammy Thompson and husband, John, of Sandy Ridge, N.C., Travis Fisher and wife, Kari, of Lebanon, Ohio, Tracy Fisher, and Trent Fisher and wife, Jen, all of Roanoke; stepdaughter, Teresa and Larry Odum of Tazewell; brother, Donald Fisher; sister, Shirley Anderson; eight grandchildren and step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and special pet companion, Missy. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion, with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the Grosses Creek Church Cemetery in Chilhowie. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Walt to Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church, 442 Freedom Tabernacle Lane, Atkins, VA 24311. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
