Edith B. (Cooper) George, 98 of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care of Maryville.

Edith was born on February 11, 1921 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to Clarence and Ruth (Rackliff) Cooper. She was a graduate of Lawson Missouri High School and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University.

Edith had taught school at Eugene Field until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Maryville, United Methodist Womens, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Nodaway Chapter of DAR and the Daughters of Union Veterans.

She married William C. George in 1942 in Lawson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1970. She was also preceded by her parents, son-in-law, David Strosaker, granddaughter, Ann Michelle Barratt, sister, Rachel Crowley and brother, Calvin Cooper.

Survivors include two daughters, Esther Strosaker, Quincy, Illinois, Janice (Robert) Barratt, Casper, Wyoming, son, Paul (Garland) George, Maryville, Missouri; sister, Betty Cheek, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jimmy George, Liberty, Missouri; six granddaughters, Cathy George, Karen (Nathan) Dingman, Laura (Mike) Bissen, Melissa (Eugene) Rho, Sarah (Lance) Munroe, Tena (Nick) Edwards; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service 11am Monday, April 22nd at the First United Methodist Church of Maryville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside Services 3pm Monday at Richmond Memorial Gardens, Richmond, Missouri. Mrs. George has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
