Born in Wells County, IN, on February 5, 1926, Freda was the daughter of Lauren and Ada (Gilbert) Ritchey. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Jackson Township in Wells County. On October 13, 1950, Freda married Phillip W. Moon, and they shared nearly 49 years together before he passed on May 28, 1999.
Freda retired from SCM, where she was the personnel manager. She held several memberships, which included First Baptist Church, Business and Professional Women, Altrusa, Hostess House, Women’s Department Club, and CPC Sympathy Club.
She never turned down the opportunity to play a game of Euchre. She also loved to travel and had visited every state at least two times.
She is survived by her children: Leslee (Bruce) Anders, Greg (Barbara) Moon, and Ritch (Angie) Moon, all from Marion; sister-in-law, Beverly Baker, Gas City; grandchildren: Jeff (Jenny) Anders, CO; Corey (Brooke) Anders, Zionsville; Tara (Caleb) Chambers, Carmel; Laura (Nathan) Kaiser, Noblesville; and Sarah (Jeremy) Campbell, Uniondale; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents and her brother, Harold Ritchey, preceded her in death.
Family and friends may pay their respects to the Moon family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Freda’s life will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
