Erica was born on March 6, 1980 in Atlanta to Dr. Lonnie and Darlene Jenkins. She grew up in Avondale Estates, Ga. She passed away on February 2, 2019.
At the age of 3, she was enrolled at Northwoods Montessori School where she developed a lifelong love of learning. In 7th grade she transferred to Avondale Elementary School. She graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1998. After a year of study at Emory, she transferred to Spelman College where, in May 2002, she graduated magna cum laude with a major in Economics. In 2009, she earned her Master’s Degree in Managerial Sciences with a concentration in Business Analysis from Georgia State University.
After graduating from Spelman, Erica joined the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). She was employed with the IRS for 16 years, and most recently held the title of Senior Tax Analyst.
Erica had several hobbies and interests. At age 6 she started taking piano lessons, and later added drums. At age 10, she joined the Lady Attack Soccer team at South DeKalb YMCA. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing, coaching, and refereeing soccer. While at Spelman, Erica excelled in academics and athletics. She received the Arthur Ashe Jr Sports Scholar award.
She also enjoyed traveling and visited several destinations around the world including Canada and Europe. Most recently, Erica and Jason enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with their friends.
On October 15, 2016, Erica married the love of her life, Jason Morgan. They enjoyed raising their beloved dogs, Lucky and Nino. Erica and Jason shared an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoyed starting their own business, NHance , a cabinet refinishing company.
Erica is survived by her loving husband, Jason Morgan; Parents, Dr Lonnie and Darlene Jenkins; Mother- in- Law, Sandra Richards; Sisters, Charlotte Redo, Esq. (Cornelius Redo IV) and Dr. Loni Jenkins (Juaneka Smith ); Brother- in- Laws, Stefon Johnson, Samuel Mickey Johnson, and James Earl Morgan; Nieces, Jasmine Redo and Leah Smith-Jenkins; Nephew, Cornelius (Kip) Redo V; Aunts, Cynthia Carpenter , Terrie Leslie, Lorri Jenkins, Livia Jenkins and Linda Lyles; Uncles, Keith Jenkins (Lynn) and Wade Saxton. She is also survived by a host of loving cousins and friends.
