She was born Oct. 7, 1945, in Lorain and was a lifelong resident of the city.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1963, attended Lorain Business College and received certification in data processing.

Ms. Chet was employed at the former Gilford Instrument Laboratories in Oberlin for 13 years as a data entry clerk and computer operator and continued to work in other data entry jobs in accounting until 2002.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lorain, served on the church council and was a liturgist and usher. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed her family, bowling, fishing and camping.

Survivors include her daughters Robin A. Gross of Vermilion and Denise I. Ives of South Amherst; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert J. and Anne E. (nee Haake) Chet; stepmother, Sue Chet (nee Andorka); and brother, G. Jack Chet.

Friends may call Tuesday, 3 to 7 p.m., at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. Fifth St., Lorain. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Ave., with the Rev. Philip Kunz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain.
