Levi was the son of George W and Deliah/Delilah Hemmings Shults/Schultz. Levi's brother, Gilbert Arnold, is buried in this cemetery, as is George. Levi married Rosa Belle Williams, daughter of John and Nancy Harwell Williams, in Kanawha County on 31 December 1891. They had ten children: Freer Clark/Clark Freer, Delilah, Corna Fisher, Ervin Watson (buried here), Verna, Minerva (Minnie)(buried here, Minnie Buckland), Ross (probably buried here), Carlos Levi, Berchon Fay and Margaret Ella.

The 1880 census shows his age as 11, so born ca 1869. The 1910 census shows his age as 42 (born ca 1867-1868). The 1930 census gives his age as 61. His death certificate shows 1866. The gravestone has 1866.

The Charleston Gazette, Saturday, March 12, 1961. SHULTZ, Levi - 94, of 1409 Elm St., died Friday at his home after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Surviving are two sons, Ervin of Danville and Carlos of Bethesda, Md.; five daughters, Mrs. Delilah Mathews of Charleston. Mrs. Corna McCarty of Van, Mrs. Verna Holstein of St. Albans. Mrs. Berchon Hattman of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Margaret Baxter of Marion, Ohio; two brothers, Roy and Estil, both of South Charleston; 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. The body is at Degnan Funeral Home at South Charleston.
