Roy Daniel Jr., age 82, of 174 Tulip Drive, Americus, GA passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA. A funeral service was held in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2016. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reverend Les Reed officiated. A visitation was held in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on the evening of Thursday, December 29, 2016.

Roy Daniel Jr. was born July 7, 1934 in Americus, GA. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he served two tours in Vietnam. He served as an infantry unit leader and a MCI Reconnaissance Marine. He was also part of the MCI Marine Corps Reserve Personnel Administration. He received many decorations, medals, and commendations during his time of service. His awards included the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal 4th Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Navy Unit Citation with 4 Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Sharp Shooter, and Pistol Sharp Shooter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Daniel Sr.; his mother, Clare Davis Daniel; one brother, Eulan Daniel; and 5 sisters, Hortense Lassiter Bellew, Valree Ray, Beatrice Mills, Kathryn Franchio, and Maxine Mills. He is survived by two sisters, Janet Martin (Harold Sr.) of College Grove, TN, Charolette Minick (Bill) of Richland, GA; one son, Patrick Daniel of Americus, GA; and one daughter Sheila Daniel of Americus, GA. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Anthony Daniel and Christopher Daniel. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
