Katherine ("Kitty","Cass","Mom") Midgett Kennedy, 94, of Manteo, NC was surrounded by loved ones as she left to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at her home.
A native of Manteo, she was born March 24, 1923, to the late Mary M. Midgett and Loran B. Midgett. She was happily married to the late Eugene "Cookie" R. Kennedy, Sr. for 50+ years. Katherine was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge #52.
She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Katherine is survived by her son, Joseph "Buddy" Boyce, Jr. (Cathy) of Manteo; five grandchildren, David Boyce (Angie), Michael Boyce (Jessica Mickey), Rebecca Boyce, Treye Kennedy (Kari), and Loran Kennedy; and four great-grandchildren, A.J. Boyce, Hayleigh Boyce, Caleb Kennedy, and Camden Kennedy.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Baker Boyce, Sr.; her son, Eugene "Butch" R. Kennedy, Jr (Kit); and a sister, Carita Midgett Fisher.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Twiford Colony Chapel with Rev. Dr. John Dutton officiating. A reception will follow at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
