Sharon J. Sanders, 84 passed away December 20, 2018 at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Sharon was born May 12, 1934 to Loyd W. and Tena Pearl (Hyatt) Sanders at Cummings Park near Sargent in Custer County.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Moulton Cemetery at a later date. Pastor, Dennis Davenport will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Sharon grew up on a ranch north of Taylor in Loup County, Nebraska. She attended one-room schoolhouses starting 1st grade at Lone Star District #28 and then three years at Goldenrod School District #38 and finished grade school at Lone Star. Sharon grew up and went to school with the Worm, Kassebaum, Lewis, Lundy, Hetfield, Robbins and Starke children. At home, she grew up like most kids at the time, helped her brothers with chores, milking cows and in the summer she spent her time working in the hay fields.

With only a seventh grade education, Sharon embarked on life and worked in Broken Bow, Grand Island and then moved to Minnesota and married Roger Heinen. Roger and Sharon moved to California for a couple of years and moved back to Fergus Falls and owned a fishing resort. Sharon moved back to Grand Island working at boarding homes taking care of elderly people. While living in Grand Island, Sharon would visit Beth, Becky, Cindy, Cheryl and John Jr. the Hetfield cousins of Cairo, and treat them with candy. Sharon then moved to the Saxton and Sikeston, Missouri to work and to be closer to her Dad and Brother Gordon whom were residing at Ava, Missouri.

Sharon retired in 2004 and moved to the Parkview Plaza in Burwell where her apartment looked over the North Loup River and her closest neighbor was her dear friend, Lillian Smith. Sharon enjoyed to embroidery. Then in the fall of 2011, Sharon moved to the Friendship Home, Assisted Living at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Sharon was a member of the Clifford Clark Unit 298 American Legion Auxiliary in Burwell.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Grandparents John and Mabel(Austin) Hyatt, Grandparents William and Fanny Sanders, Stepmother Alma (Starke) Sanders, Sister-in-law Betty Jo Sanders, Double Cousins Loyd Hyatt and Von Hyatt, Sister-in-law Shirley A. Sanders, Brother Gordon and wife Glenda Sanders and nephew Terrell(Terry) Lynn Sanders.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Terrell R. and Janet Sanders, Burwell, Nebraska, double cousin Loyal and Janice Hyatt of Brainerd, Minnesota and many other relatives and friends.
