"Jacob Pletcher, father of A.L. Pletcher, was born July 30, 1815, in the town of Genesee, Livingston county, New York, and died April 24, 1896. If he accompanied his father to Niagara county in 1832 he was seventeen years old at the time. He followed agricultural pursuits all his life. When he settled on the present Pletcher homestead the farm site was in a dense forest. He cut down the timber and cleared the land, and then erected substantial buildings and here successfully carried on his farm enterprise. He married Emily Chapman, who was born in the town of Lewiston April 28, 1825 and they became the parents of children as follows: Lorenzo N., born Sept. 10, 1849 in the town of Porter, died Sept. 8, 1851; Barbara, born Aug. 30, 1851, married first Otis Tower, second John Taylor, third Enos Cochran, and is now a widow residing at perry, Mich.; Benjamin F., born Dec. 1, 1853, is a contracting builder of Detroit, Mich., where he eredted several of the Ford buildigns and the Michigan Central Railway depot; Maria, born Feb. 18, 1857, is the wife of George Shippy, of Niagara Fall; Susie L., born Feb. 26, 1859, is the wife of George Kinney, of Niagara Falls; William, born Dec. 24, 1860, died Jan. 25, 1864; Lavina, born April 7, 1863, resides in Niagara Falls; Abraham L.; and two infants that died several days after birth." -- Niagara County, NewYork, one hundred of the most wonderful regions in the world, a concise record of her progress and people, 1821-1921, Edward T. 16May1896 probate of will names his heirs as widow Emily Pletcher and children: Barbary Tyler, Benjamin Pletcher, Maria H. Shippy, Susan Kinney, Lovina Pletcher, and Abraham L. Pletcher. His nephew,Franklin Pletcher, was executor. Will was witnessed on 16Mar1891 by Milton E. Perrigo and Elmer Wagner, both of Lewiston.
