J. Benson Waldrop, 93, of Greenville, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019.
He was born in Greenville to the late James Jordan Waldrop and Alice “Mollie” Stredwick Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of Parisview Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved bass fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rosa Lee Loftis Waldrop; two children, Wanda (Michael) MacCurtain, of Whitman,MA and Robert C. Waldrop, of Greenville; two granddaughters, Denise (Michael) Bondi and Meredith DeCross; three great grandchildren, Rosalia, Anthony and Salvatore Bondi.
Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Ethel Barnett, Mary Phillips, Gertrude Fuller, Kirby Tripp, Earl, Harold, George, and Clyde Waldrop.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tracy Jenkins for her love and compassion.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Mountain View Memorial Park.
