Mattie Lou Evans, 75, of Galesburg, Michigan, formerly of Stevensville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Laurel of Galesburg in Galesburg, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Mark Evans. Mattie is survived by her son Mark (Michele) Evans of Muskegon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was the fifth born of eleven siblings, surviving are: John Johnson; Ray Johnson; Lois (Junior) Brumley; Lura (Benny) Harp; Jim (Melissa) Johnson; Wayne (Eloise) Johnson; Curt Johnson; Shirley Whitaker; Mary Annette (David) Thumm; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Mattie was preceded by her parents, husband Earl Evans, sons, Timothy and David Evans, and brother, Perry Johnson.
Mattie was born April 18, 1943, in Marks, Mississippi to Cletis & Opal (Patterson) Johnson. Mattie loved all her family, especially the family cookouts at her brother, Wayne’s house. She will be missed by all who knew her.
