Orlan Thomas Phillips, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, died Sunday of Non-Hodgkin?s lymphoma at his home. He was 69. Mr. Phillips was born in Florence, Ala., and lived in Gretna for the past 31 years. He graduated from Coffee High School, the University of New Orleans and the Air Command and Staff College. He was employed as a seismic data analysis for Geophysical Services. He was a member of Community for Creative Non-Violence and Greater New Orleans Bonsai Society. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marie Phillips; a son, Orlan Charles "Chuck" Phillips; a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Marie Phillips, of Albuquerque, N.M.; his father, Orlan Carl Phillips of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Julian Phillips of Albuquerque; and a sister, Carolyn Krause of Virginia Beach. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
