Manasquan resident Richard Mekinc died Thursday, March 22, at home.

He was 52 years old.

Richard lived in Spring Lake most of his life. He was a beach lover, antique bargain-hunter, Mickey Mouse fanatic, artist, avid reader, sweet-toothed chocoholic, holiday decorator, Clue champion, AMC classic movie marathon watcher and dedicated family man.

He hated with enthusiasm, Monopoly, winter and bagpipes.

He was a cantor and member of St. Catharine's parish choir.

Rich worked many years at Kmart and Pathmark, but his most notable job was helping raise five Thompson children.

He was a true renaissance man, who loved life.

Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Tina Mekinc, and their daughters, Chloe and Emily, all of Glenmore, Pa; and his sister, Dorothy and her husband, Arthur Thompson.

He was a devoted uncle to their five children and their families, David Thompson and his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Maggie, Helen Thompson and her husband, Brian, Jason Thompson, Grace Thompson, and Claire Thompson and her son, Sean.
