Funeral services for Peggy June Nelson, age 74 of Shelbyville will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 am from the chapel of Gowen-Smith with Brother Mike Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chapel, and also on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service. Mrs. Nelson passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born on Sunday, September 17, 1944 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to the late Brown Riner and Elizabeth Porter Riner. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Shelbyville.
She married J. T. Nelson on March 3, 1962 and they shared 57 wonderful years together.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her children: Beth Davis (Tim) of Bell Buckle, Jeff Nelson (Linda) of Shelbyville, and Matthew Nelson also of Shelbyville.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by three siblings: Jane Forcier of California, Gina Bryan of Hillsboro, TN. and Jim Riner of Colorado.
She is survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons: James Nelson in 1963 and Jerry Nelson in 2009, One grandson: Nick Davis in 2018 and one great grandson: Alexander Nelson in 2014.
