Evelyn grew up in the Ellis Prairie, MO area. She and Dale Leo McCartney were married March 24, 1946 in Independence, KS, to this union 8 children were born.
Besides raising her family, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, helping with functions in and around the Raymondville and Houston, MO areas. She especially loved the times she played bingo with family and friends. She worked nine years at Rawlings and worked as a waitress in St. Louis, MO before the family moved to Raymondville in 1966. Her husband, Dale passed away in 1974. She earned her GED at age 52 years, an accomplishment of which she was very proud. She continued to live on the farm in Raymondville, while raising the youngest five children. In 1998 she moved to Pacific, MO to live with her daughter Anita, spending time with her daughter Joyce as well.
She is survived by all eight children, Duane McCartney, Houston, MO; Joyce (Jerry) England, Pacific, MO; Gary (Joyce) McCartney, Troy, MO; Anita (Leroy) Alcorn, Gray Summit, MO; Nola (Steve) Cochran, Pacific, MO; Mary (Jim) Odle, Willow Spring, MO; Michael (Peggi) McCartney, Villa Ridge, MO; and Danny (Wendy) McCartney, Canton, OH, fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, several step- grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, also one sister Emma June Williams, of Raymondville, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale; six sisters: Nile Dorsey, Beulah Harris, Gladys (Mick) Smith, Darlene Erbschloe, Juanita (Francis) Jamison, Laura Park, and brothers: Jack Rowen, and Ira (Bud) Rowen.
