Leroy McKinley Spencer Jr., age 53, was born June 10, 1965, in New York, N.Y. to Leroy Spencer Sr. and Helen Mae Spencer. He departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Leroy Jr. served four years in the Navy and also served as a financial secretary for Genesis Lodge #89. Leroy was a kind hearted and giving individual who loved his family and friends dearly. There was nothing Jr., as we called him, wouldn't do for anyone. Leroy Jr. was always full of humor, jokes, and always knew how to turn a bad situation into a good one. Leroy Jr. is survived by his parents Leroy and Helen Spencer; his only child, Andrea Michelle Spencer of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Melvina Robertson of Lynchburg, and Diane Spencer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Darrell Lamonte Spencer and Terrence DeVone Spencer (Evelyn) of Lynchburg; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family and friends; a devoted friend of 24 years, Roslyn Carter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home on Friday, April 12, 2019. Funeral Service will include Homegoing and Masonic Service to be held at Diamond Hill Baptist Church at 1415 Grace St., Lynchburg, VA 24504. Services will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2019. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Burial Park at 2310 Lakeside Drive.
