CORTLAND — Charles “Chuck” R. Lucy, 96, of Lake Vista in Cortland, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

Chuck was born April 30, 1922, in Warren, the son of Meredith and Minnie C. Kendall Lucy.

A 1941 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Chuck then joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the 94th Infantry during World War II.

He went on to work at Brainard Strapping, which later became Sharon Steel. After 30 years of employment, Chuck retired in 1995 as the marketing manager.

Chuck was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church, the Warren Ski Club and the Trumbull Country Club. He remained an avid skier and golfer well into his 80s, and enjoyed an active lifestyle as long as he was able.

He leaves behind a granddaughter, Kaylin (Adam) Tomlin of Atlanta, Ga., and his partner of 28 years, Dorothy Lazar.

His brother,William Lucy; his two sisters, Catherine Hill and Ann Engster; and his daughter, Georgene Lucy Lane, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Pastor Casey Chapman will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.
