Fred W. Tuning, 88, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at home.

He was born January 1, 1919, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Fred O. Tuning and Lydia Balsinger Tuning.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Charles Georgiana, III and a sister, Dorothy Tuning.

Fred graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1937.

He served with the United States Army as an MP during World War II in the European Theatre of Operation.

Fred was employed by Metzler's Department Store for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Uniontown Rotary and Saint John's Roman Catholic Church. Fred was an avid golfer, loved photography and was know around town as a 'snappy dresser.'

Fred is survived by his wife, Susanne M. Bradley Tuning; a son, Fredrick J. Tuning and his wife, Paulie of South Park, Pa.; two daughters: Catherine King of Eugene, Org., and Patricia Georgiana of Uniontown; five grandchildren: Christopher and Deserae Georgiana, Abraham King, Damian King, Kelly and Jason Fickley and Leslie Tuning; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007.

Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday followed by a Mass celebrating his life at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Michael Crockston officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Park, Uniontown, Pa. Full Military Rites will be accorded by Uniontown VFW Post 47 at the cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday.
