Cheryl Ann Miles gently passed away at Cottage in the Meadow on April 5, 2019 after a five-month courageous battle with cancer. She was lovingly surrounded by her husband, family and friends.
Cheryl was born in Mt. Vernon, WA on August 30, 1957.
She and her husband, Del worked at Boeing for many years and after moving to Yakima in 2001, they purchased Covenant House, the first of three Miles Adult Family Homes (Lola Kay, Izzy’s). They were determined to make the lives of their residents better. Cheryl said, “We enjoy making people happy and treating them the way we’d like to be treated.” Cheryl was devoted to taking care of people and always put their needs ahead of her own. She was admired and respected by the many young women she mentored. She was truly one of the sweetest and most generous people you could know, and so very many are blessed to call her friend.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her son, Jason, a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, KIA in Iraq and her parents, Marian Copeland and Victor Carlquist.
She is survived by her loving husband, Delbert Miles, Yovanna (Romeos) Kilinkaridis and her grandson, London; her siblings and their families, Ron (Carol) Carlquist, Cindy (Bob) Austin, Mickie (Craig) Allison; her step children, Scott (Heather) Clark and Brian (Jamie) Clark and many dear friends.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to North Star, Memorial Palliative Care and Cottage in the Meadow, for their support and care, and the dignity they showed in caring for Cheryl.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer, per Cheryl’s request.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Cottage in the Meadow and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936) who is caring for the family.
