Robert Stanley “Bob” Parrott, Jr., 83, of Stratford Commons, passed away on December 11, 2017 at Brightview at Baldwin Park in Staunton. He was born July 6, 1934 to the late Robert Stanley, Sr. and Ruby Baugher Parrott of Green Meadows Farm, in Standardsville, VA. Bob graduated from Randolph-Macon Academy and received his B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in 1956. He was also an alumnus of the Graduate School of Education at the University of Virginia. He always considered one of his greatest achievements was serving on Governor Mills Godwin’s task force, “Bonds for Education”, which helped establish Virginia’s Community College System. In 2011 Bob was proud to be presented with a certificate for completing fifty years of membership in the Masonic Fraternity of Piedmont-Stella Lodge No. 50. He retired from Roy Wheeler Reality Company as a GRI Farm and Estate Specialist in 1991. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George S. Parrott. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, LaVerne (Wood) Parrott; daughter, Michelle Ward of Waynesboro; son, Stanley “Chip” Parrott of Sacromento, CA. and a grandson, Patrick Ward of Ruckersville, VA. At his request, internment will be private at Monticello Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, P.O. Box 1557, Waynesboro, VA. 22980 or to The Alzheimers Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville, VA. 22901. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
