Carolyn Lafalda Campbell Wooten, 79, went into the loving arms of Jesus and joined her loving husband of 58 years, Jack, on April 8, 2019.

She was the daughter of the late Clyde Campbell and Lafalda Settle Campbell.

Carolyn developed a love for music at an early age. Developing that love as a young girl at Calvary Baptist then in the band at Stonewall Jackson High School Class of ’57 where she was a member of the All-State Band and All-State Chorus. She was a graduate of WV State Music department. She served as choir director at Dunbar United Methodist church from 1983-1994. She was also instrumental in developing the Hand Bells ministry at the church. She sang with WV Symphony Chorus.

She retired from Marco Supply. Carolyn and her husband Jack were very active in the Nitro Moose and the Nitro Senior Center.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her love, smile, spirit, friendship and discipleship will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde.

She leaves behind her sons, Gary and his wife, Terry Wooten of Scott Depot, Rodger of Cross Lanes, her daughters Julie McQuain and husband, Dale, of Richmond, KY with whom she lived, and her daughter, Susan Stover and husband, Michael, of Beckley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachelle, Eli, Alan, Samantha, Matthew, Asher and Angel along with numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13 at Dunbar United Methodist Church with Rev. Teresa Markins officiating. The service is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., but in honor of Carolyn always being late, it will start at 1:07 p.m. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Carolyn’s name to Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Ave, Dunbar, WV 25064, or a charity of your choice.
