Gerald was born to Gladys (Cagle) and Theodore Anderson. He was a Veteran serving in the Navy from 1953 till 1956 and the Army from 1961 to 1978. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Joretta Thompson, and sisters Hazel and Lavinia.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, four daughters, grandchildren, his brother, other family and friends.
