As a child, she attended the Cedar Hill Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at the age of 5 and was baptized. Kathleen attended Wayne County High School where she excelled as a student and enjoyed taking business classes during the school year and summers. As a student, she worked as an office assistant for Mr. A. J. Lloyd and during the summers she worked in the central office. She graduated from Wayne County High School in 1969 and entered the workforce as a secretary at Monticello Manufacturing where she remained until 1986. In 1987, Kathleen began a new career with Data Cumberland/ACS as the personnel liaison. She remained with the company through the mid 1990s advancing to the position of facility manager. In 1997, she joined First Image where she facilitated opening a new data entry facility in Monticello. At the end of her career, Kathleen not only oversaw the data entry facility in Monticello, but facilities across southeastern Kentucky. She traveled tirelessly around the United States securing contracts for data entry that brought new jobs and economic growth to the area. Kathleen was truly dedicated to her employees. She celebrated their triumphs, worried for their personal struggles, and prayed diligently for their happiness and success. She modeled Christ-like behavior in her professional and personal life.

Kathleen married the love of her life David Lawrence Coffey on March 12, 1971. From this 48 year marriage a beautiful family was created that included a son, David L. Coffey, a daughter, Alisha [David] Morgan and her precious grandson Jacob Morgan. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was incredibly proud of her family and often boasted their accomplishments no matter how great or small.

Kathleen was an avid collector of antiques. She was a gifted pianist and enjoyed the decades she spent serving as the pianist for the Elk Ridge Baptist Church. Kathleen delighted in sunny days at the beach and quiet times with a good book. She loved a strong cup of coffee, the Kentucky Wildcats, and political commentaries on MSNBC. She was witty, talented, selfless, determined, and always encouraged others toward their goals. She was strong in her faith and possessed a limitless capacity to love. Her happiest days were spent in the company of her family, gathered around the kitchen table.
