Daughter of Rev. William Martin and Rachel Dalton Martin they came to Williamson Co. Tn around 1800. She married John Hughes a member to the VA Legislative. Some years before John died he was an invalid. He died from burns from the fireplace hearth. He had leaned forward and his chair fell. He was a very successful businessman, and large land owner .
Southwest of the house is the cemetery buried here are Gen. Martin, john and Sally Hughes their son Dr. Leander Hughes, Mrs. Henderson and 2 of her children, grandchildren and Dr. Wm. Webb and Wm. Leander Webb.
