Sister Cecilia entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on July 22, 1952 and received the name Sister Mary Cecilia, which she later asked to be changed to simply Sister Cecilia. She professed Final Vows on January 23, 1960. She earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and master's degrees from Mount Saint Mary College, Los Angeles. In her 66 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered for 41 years as a teacher of music in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland and California. For three years, 1974-'77, she served as a provincial councilor in the California province. In 1999, she retired from teaching but remained in California giving service to her sisters. She came to the motherhouse in 2002 where she continued to serve in a variety of ways. Beginning in 2009, she dedicated herself totally to the ministry of prayer.
Sister Cecilia was a highly creative person with a lively sense of humor. She enjoyed being with people, and particularly loved competitive board games. At the same time, she enjoyed quiet, especially quiet time in nature.
Sister Cecilia is survived by nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Monti and Caroline Tozer.
Burial is in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence.
