Delbert E. Kitner, age 95, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born January 22, 1924 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Jess and Jennie (Kluver) Kitner. Delbert was a graduate of Grundy Center High School.

served in the U.S. Army.

He was united in marriage with Helen Abel on June 5, 1947 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2008.

He later married Alice Barber.

Delbert was a lifelong farmer, and also sold Vigortone Feeds for many years.

He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City.

Delbert loved being in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and trapping. He enjoyed caring for a variety of livestock over the years and loved his pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and two brothers, Art and Edward Kitner.
