Matt was born on March 6,1983 to the union or Roy Glynn Strickland and Jan Stephens Strickland and he passed from this life on April 8, 2019 at his residence in Columbia. Matt was not without his struggles in life, but there was no one he wouldnt help. When he was little and someone would move next door in the neighborhood and he found out they needed something he would go all over the neighborhood trying to find what they needed. He was a caring person and even in his adult life he would help anyone. He was preceded in death by his mamaw Katie Strickland Enterkin, his papaw Henry Stephens and his mamaw Janie Stephens; his uncle Billy Fore; his sweet sister Jana Strickland with whom he shared a very special bond.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his parents Roy and Jan Strickland of Columbia, his aunt: Debbie Stephens Fore Duncan of Columbia, his uncle: Henry “Bully” Stephens and his aunt Brenda Stephens; his cousins: James, Charles (Brandy), Roger Stephens (Kelly), and Nickey Fore Hixson (Kevin). He loved all of his cousins and their children, but he had a special bond with Michael Joe and Gabe Hixson. Trey Cook was the brother he never had and Matt loved him with a special love. Eli Duncan will miss his almost daily trips to the park and throwing rocks in the Ouachita.
Pallbearers will be Chad Walton, James Stephens, Roger Stephens, Conner Stephens, Kevin Hixson and Trey Cook.
